ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE

1999- Interim Director of Distance Learning

Developed and implemented the distance learning program at the University of Michigan-Flint. Activities included budget planning, contract negotiations (with eCollege), and supervision of the site (www.umflintonline.org) development. Responsible for the ongoing operations of UM-Flint distance-learning program, include recruiting, contracting with, and training faculty to develop and teach online classes. The program has grown by 300% in less than one year.

1996- Executive Director of Information Technology Services

In charge of leading UM-Flint Information Technology Services. ITS enjoys having a cadre of 16 full-time professional staff members and 20 part-time student assistants. During my tenure, ITS has experienced numerous significant achievements. The most noteworthy accomplishments have been the implementation Banner Student Information Systems including implementation of online registration, redesign of the entire campus network infrastructure, and development of five new instructional as well as open computing labs.

GRANT SUPPORT

"The Ameritech Learning Initiative," in collaboration with the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, School of Information, School of Art and Design, Information Technology Division, and School of Engineering at Dearborn. Awarded a five-year, $1.5 million grant, with $230,000 for the Flint campus, to develop instructional technology initiatives for Flint community schools.

"An Interactive Solution Method for a Multi-criteria Flexible Manufacturing Model," Research Fellowship Award, Office of Research, University of Michigan-Flint, summer 1992, $5,500.

"A Multi-objective Multi-period Model for Flexible Automation," (with F. Taghaboni), Faculty Development and Awards, Office of the Provost, The University of Michigan-Flint, 1990-1991, $5,013.

"A Flexible Manufacturing Model Using Multiple Objectives," Research Fellowship Award, Office of Research, University of Michigan-Flint, summer 1991, $5,500.

"Implementing a New Exam Scheduling Package for SUNY at Buffalo", (with Robert Cerveny) Office of the Vice President for University Services, 1987-1990, $24,000.

"Determining the Most Appropriate Level of Care for Patients within Psychiatric Institutions", New York State Office of Mental Health, summer 1979, $3,000.

Five books and 14 articles in proceedings of major professional conferences. Over 20 journal articles in refereed journals including Computers and Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research, IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, Journal of the Operational Research Society, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Managerial Issues, Socio-Economic Planning Science, Management Science, and International Journal of Modeling and Simulation. Over 40 presentations in regional, national and international conferences.
