The statement "the new millennium promises exciting, challenging
& unpredictable changes for all of us'' makes teachers / instructors
think over new forms of teaching & developing new up-to-date courses.
The new generation of managers brought up at the Academy are those
who don't regard International Business as an us-against-them proposition.
We teach them to break out of the boundaries placed upon themselves
in their environment, strive to view the global marketplace through
the eyes of others with different cultural backgrounds.
The on-line distance courses provided
by University of Michigan-Flint (UMF) is a wonderful opportunity
for Russian students to think from a global perspective, unhindered
by the blinders of nationalism. It stands to reason that International
Business & Marketing are crucial if one wants to become a more
valuable member on a global team. American experience is only one
aspect of the on-line course. It is equally important that our students
be exposed to the Russian experience. Therefore Russian peculiarities
of marketing is explored through consultations, live presentations
& discussions. The main objective is to help students acquire
practical skills in marketing which are based on a good theoretical
background, through reading e-learning materials, and cases worked
out by American specialists. Such organization of the Russian section
of the course challenges our students to review thoroughly the theoretical
material, current coverage of emerging issues, new marketing terms,
trends & changes in business practices provided by UMF, and
evaluate it according to the Russian experience. Such reflexive
analyses benefit the understanding of international marketing issues.
